Flameworked beads

A few years ago I attended a valuable course held at Exemplar Glass, Leominster (www.exemplar-glass.co.uk) and run by Diana Arseneau. I was so inspired that I have now started making my own torch fired glass beads. I sell these beads either as individual beads or incorporated in my work such as bracelets, pendants and beaded handles on knives.

Silver Metal Clay

At present I am experimenting with incorporating silver metal clay within my fused glass jewellery. It is an exciting new material which was invented by Mitsubishi Materials Corp.Japan. It is sometimes referred to as Art Clay or Precious Metal Clay and consists of 3 ingredients: tiny particles of pure silver or gold, water and an organic binder. It can be rolled, shaped or sculptured whilst in its initial wet stage, then after it has been air dried to become leather hard it is then heated in the kiln. During the heating phase the binder burns away leaving behind a pure silver object. See images of my work now.
